As last! The Holy Grail, a secure child resistant closure (CRC) that is also easy to open and close, using one hand only. Openability has always been a major issue with CRC’s, with an ever-increasing elderly population and for those who suffer from arthritis, carpal tunnel, and other ailments. The easy-open and close containers also offer many other benefits (compared with the most common CRC on the market, e.g. press and turn to open and a firm lid turn to lock type), in manufacturing costs, material usage and cycle speed reductions. The global granted patent and patent pending’s Squeeze-Safe™ packaging CRC technology is suitable for many different markets including pharmaceuticals, cannabis, tobacco and vitamins etc and is now available for licensing globally. A major company has already secured a non-exclusive license in North American, Canada and Mexico. And are selling extremely well into the cannabis and tobacco markets. Others markets currently being explored are vitamins and a home pill storage solution, the latter as a finished product (an empty container) itself.
The Squeeze-Safe™ closures consists of a lid that is a press snap fit onto a base that serves as the container. Opening is performed, using one hand only, by squeezing the lid’s sides at two adjacent marked positions, as shown, causing the lid to ‘pop off’. Releasing your grip, the base will then fall out under your full control. Making the package pleasingly tactile, ‘cool’ and extremely age group friendly. A multi-purpose inner symmetrical ramp system guides and joins the components together (creating an effective seal) when the lid is pressed onto the base and helps to force the components apart when the lid sides are squeezed as described. Quality Seal Using a ‘twin-shot’ moulding method, e.g., injecting a second shot of a Thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) around the inner lid top edge, produces a quality seal, keeping in the freshness.
CRC certified: PASSED 100% Compgen Limited certifies that the test unit, the Squeeze-Safe, was evaluated and tested and passed with flying colours by a third-party laboratory in the USA using the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s protocol and standards for Poison Prevention Packaging as required by the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 16, Part 1700, including Part 1700.15 (1995) and Part 1700.20 (1995). Tread Global, Inc. found the results of the study indicate that the test unit, the Squeeze-Safe, fulfils the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Title 16, Part 1700, including Part 1700.15 (1995) and Part 1700.20 (1995), for Poison Prevention Packaging.

The originators of this novel development are anxious to conclude further exclusive or non-exclusive licenses (as one company alone could not service all the potential markets that this new closure could be used for) either territorially or/and in defined Designated Product Areas (DPA).

Squeezeopen™ was my first invention and has been highly successful in shampoo packaging and as a product in it’s own right, selling into the tens of millions over the years. Squeeze-Safe™ is a new CRC version of the Squeezeopen™ technology. It has granted patents and patent pending’s globally. Compgen Limited solely owns all the intellectual property on both inventions and has been in packaging business for over thirty years.
